It was one of the few Sundays when I was up early. Hubby was away on a business trip and I had plans to meet my close friend from college. We had been trying to work out this meet since the time I had moved to Hyderabad, but due to our busy work schedules and other commitments, it just kept getting postponed. I skipped breakfast because I was invited for lunch and the gastronaut in me wanted to save space in my stomach to hog. When I was ready to leave, it suddenly occurred to me that I had forgotten to buy a gift for my friend’s 5 year old daughter. I decided to buy something nice on the way and made a dart for the door.

Mysticism and the Kumbh
This guest travel blog has been written by Tamanna Mehdi. She is passionate about traveling and is always game for different kinds of experiences. She is a wonderful writer and I am sure you will agree with this by the end of the blog.
The term ‘Kumbh Mela’, nostalgically reminds me of all those Hindi movies where children separated in the ‘Kumbh’ only to be reunited years later, and hence I burst in giggles when my parents inquired if I wanted to see the ‘Kumbh’ at Ujjain with them last month. A succor for travel, the travel bug in me couldn’t pass this fantastic opportunity. Notwithstanding 40C+ temperatures, we set out daily to tour the many grand ‘akhadas’ (pandals) where swamis and sadhvis along with their disciples from all across the country and the world have congregated for this month-long religious communion called ‘Simhasth 2016’ on the banks of the Shipra river at Ujjain.

Education
I have always been disheartened with the perception of education by some people in our country. Education is not just about holding a degree or diploma in a particular field. It is also about being sensible, sensitive, aware, discerning and responsible. Continue reading Education
the battle between mind and heart
Her mind was in a state of mayhem. She had vowed to keep her distance but found herself being vanquished by the desire in her heart. It wasn’t easy to control deep-seated emotions, after all. It was a battle between her mind and her heart, and eventually the latter won. She gave in to her temptation and took rapid giant strides towards him.
She stood facing him in glee and stretched her hands, while reminding herself that she was doing nothing wrong.
“One plate pani puri please, Bhaiya”, she exclaimed.
Voracity had got the better of the diet.

Way
This is my second story written for the challenge of writing a story in “6 words or less”. The theme I was given was “Way”.
Pink
I was challenged by a fellow blogger to write a story in 6 words or less. The theme I was given was “Pink”. This is the story I created – my shortest short story!
To quit or not to quit?!
I have vivid memories of that moment. I had just read my 5th appreciation email from the top management of my unit. It was for a presentation delivered by me during an important tour, and the accolades were primarily due to the fact that I was roped in for something that critical at the eleventh hour and managed it successfully.
Time
It is micro fiction time again – this one is on the theme “Time”. This idea came to my mind at 3:00 AM in the night while putting my toddler back to sleep. 🙂
Lifeless
I have often heard people say that prostitution or porn should be made legal because it is a personal choice on both sides. But, the fact is that in our country, in most cases it is not a “choice” on both sides. From the point of view of the adult indulging in it as a “buyer”, it might be harmless but what about the other side? Continue reading Lifeless
